Welcome to the Jewett Art Gallery’s new gallery site and blog. The Jewett Art Gallery is the teaching gallery of the Art Department at Wellesley College. The gallery hosts approximately seven exhibits during the academic year which are generated by faculty on campus for teaching purposes and for exhibits of student work.
This blog will provide multiple opportunities as a reference point and forum for both the Wellesley College community and the public. We will aim to provide insight and background on the process of running an art gallery: installing shows, opening receptions, gallery talks, and much more. At the same time, another goal will be to stimulate discussion and dialogue related to ideas, art works, and artists in our exhibitions.
We have many gallery events coming up in the next few weeks: an opening reception for the current exhibition “Dual Action: New England Print Faculty Invitational” as well as the opening of the exhibition “Patrick Earl Hammie: Equivalent Exchange” at the beginning of April. Visit often to see what’s happening in the gallery and join in the discussion!
Clara Lieu, Gallery Director

Opening reception for “Re(11):“, an exhibition by students in Phyllis McGibbons’ Installation course in November 2008.
