Workshop Description
Learn the basics of flat and sculptural beadwork in this beginner’s level workshop. Using colorful glass seed beads, we will focus on the peyote stitch, (an off-loom weaving technique) including increasing, decreasing, tubular peyote, and others. Students will be provided with a beginner’s kit including beads, needles, threads, beeswax and pattern charts.
Instructor Biography
Jennifer Maestre is a graduate of Wellesley College , Class of 1981 and the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Her sculptural work has been exhibited internationally. She was awarded “Most Innovative Use of the Medium” by the jurors of Bead International 2002, a biennial beading competition, and her work has been featured in numerous publications, including 500 Beaded Objects, published by Lark Books. Her sculptures will be featured in an exhibition titled “Primordial” at the Jewett Art Gallery in October 2011.
