Clara Lieu is the Director of the Jewett Art Gallery, the Program Coordinator for the Applied Arts Program, and a Visiting Lecturer in the Wellesley College Art Department, where she teaches courses in Drawing and Design.  She is also a Critic in the Division of Foundation Studies and the Illustration Department at the Rhode Island School of Design.  Previously, she was a Visiting Professor in Drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and an Adjunct Professor in Sculpture and Printmaking at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.

Her studio practice explores themes of isolation with an interdisciplinary approach which includes drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Her work has been exhibited at the International Print Center New York, the Mills Gallery at the Boston Center for the Arts , the Currier Museum of Art, the Chazan Gallery, the Danforth Museum of Art, Bromfield Gallery, and the Boston Printmakers North American Print Biennial. Over the past few years, she has also completed portrait painting commissions for several clients in the Boston area.
