Wu Xian Sheng is a Chinese artist well known for his figure paintings in ink on paper, which capture both realistic representation and spirit. In his Yi national series he presents a group of large format portraits of Yi people from the Sichuan province. The solid forms, varied shades, vivid lines and textures are all come through in his masterful brush strokes. Wu is currently a professor of Chinese painting at the China Academy of Fine Arts in Hang Zhou, China. He has exhibited internationally, including exhibitions at the Jean Marc Gallery in France, the Tai Zhou Museum in China, and the Asian Art Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
